Giovanna Randall’s Spring 2013 collection for HONOR was, very pretty.
Most of the looks were party dresses, long and short, punctuated by some nice separates (in similar silhouettes) and a few unfortunate jumpsuits. There were lots of low backs, and many of the super-femme dresses had great contrasting elements of plasticized sections at necklines and shoulder piecing.
Here’s the thing of it, these clothes were beautiful (mostly) and they are always extraordinarily well-made, well-fit and done in super luxe fabrics.
But. I watched this show and just thought, well….. looks like more of an homage to recent Valentino collections than anything else. In fact, the specific hues of pink and green used, as well as some of the muted, moody, botanical floral prints (not to mention that floor-length natural waist dress shape they’ve been doing) recalled quite specific examples of Valentino. (Click here and here to see what I mean)

Maia Bergman

My absolute favourite because I love beading and Bergman has used it in a much different than I have seen before. She is simply excellent at beading with a fantastic eye for colour!!

Oh my goodness this is perfection. So simple but one of the most effective surfaces i have seen. Reminds me of those plastic beads you would make pictures with and iron into place as a child, and the colours that have been used are breathtaking. This is so inspiring.
